Detroit Area Diaper Bank

Our mission is to build a network to help meet the unmet need for diapers in our community’s most vulnerable populations — babies from low-income households, the elderly and people with disabilities. Diapers are a huge hole in the “safety net” and an ongoing and TOP need for nonprofits and state agencies working with families in crisis.

About

Our mission is to build a network to help meet the unmet need for diapers in our community’s most vulnerable populations — babies from low-income households, the elderly and people with disabilities. There is no assistance for diapers, they’re not paid for or provided by WIC, SNAP (Food Stamps) or Medicare. Diapers are a huge hole in the “safety net” and an ongoing and TOP need for nonprofits and state agencies working with families in crisis.

Our vision is a community in which people who need diapers but don’t have adequate resources can get diapers – helping preserve their health, independence, safety and dignity.

Our model recognizes that people and families who need diapers most likely need other social services as well. The Diaper Bank partners with established nonprofits who are already qualifying people for need and working with them toward “whole” solutions rather than creating a separate social service delivery channel that people have to find and navigate themselves. We partner with family services agencies, homeless shelters, crisis nurseries, domestic abuse shelters, food pantries, senior agencies, faith-based outreach organizations, disability networks and state human services agencies — we become their diaper resource, increasing their capacity to more fully support our neighbors in need.
