Charities

We are pleased to announce the following organizations as participants in Ann Arbor GiveCamp 2011.

Angels of Hope – A Family Cancer Foundation

We are a dedicated team of volunteers, who are steadfast in our goal of providing ‘everyday angels’ a way to bring hope to children and their families as they battle cancer.

For nearly a decade, Angels of Hope has been providing financial assistance to children and those who love and care for them as they battle cancer (theirs or a parents). With over 90% of donations directly financing these families we ensure every dollar does the most good, from donation to deed. Each year we host three signature events, our “A Night of Hope” gala and “Angels of Hope Golf Outing” and our “Annual Christmas/Holiday Program”. Your support of these events helps bring our vision to reality. Like us on Facebook and sign up for our newsletter to stay up to date on our events, programs, and the families we help.

Animal Rescues of Michigan

We work to provide animal organizations in Michigan with free social media and public relations assistance, by educating and informing the public about the existence, opportunities, and needs of their local animal organizations, as well as increasing the public’s awareness of the wonderful deeds performed by those same organizations.

Bizdom U

Bizdom is an entrepreneurship accelerator. We train, mentor and fund aspiring entrepreneurs to launch innovative, growth-oriented startups in Detroit and Cleveland through two distinct programs: the Idea Generator and Launch Labs. We are a non-profit that was founded in 2007 by Dan Gilbert, founder of Quicken Loans and majority owner of The Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Bonnell Foundation: living with cystic fibrosis

We’re trying to help parents who have kids with CF. The purpose of the Bonnell Foundation is to provide tools to navigate the difficulties of living with CF. We strive to connect families with resources through their CF journey. With our website, roadmap to CF baskets, medical and academic scholarships we hope to equip families with a roadmap to guide their way.

Food System Economic Partnership

We are a regional nonprofit serving southeast Michigan and our mission is to catalyze change that results in vibrant and sustainable food economies in communities across southeast Michigan. We do this through localizing the food system and creating linkages between farmers and consumers. Our programs include Farm to Table (helping institutions like schools, universities, restaurants, etc. source local food), Business Development for Local Food and Farming Businesses, Policy, and Education & Outreach. We help farmers throughout southeast Michigan connect to local markets as a way for them to remain profitable. We help local food entrepreneurs and farm businesses by providing business counseling services. And we help others (students, consumers, etc) by increasing access to local food.

Glenwood Cemetery

Glenwood Cemetery is Flint’s historic cemetery, and is owned by the nonprofit Glenwood Cemetery Association. Last year we were officially listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The people that are interred at Glenwood read like a whos who of Flint History – everyone from the earliest settlers up through the founders of GM: Mott, Dort, Crapo, Whiting, Bishop, Whaley, Ballenger, and Fenton just to scratch the surface. We regularly give historical tours to groups of all kinds – from school field trips and boyscout troops to civic minded organizations that are interested in Flint’s history. The cemetery is an important educational destination for the residents of Flint and those interested in its history.

LACASA – Livingston Area Council Against Spouse Abuse

LACASA provides victims of child abuse, domestic violence and sexual assault with shelter, protection, medical aid, legal assistance, counseling, and essential life resources. We serve the community of Livingston County by providing 24-hour crisis support for children, individuals and families in trauma. We are the only crisis organization in Michigan—and one of nine in the nation—to offer a shelter program for family pets. Our 30-year old organization assists thousands of children and families each year. LACASA’s educational and informational materials are distributed to social workers, counselors, hospitals, court officers, police departments, and social service agencies. Our fundraising and marketing materials are distributed to foundations, donors, sponsors, organizations, schools, and individuals.

Pregnancy Aid, Inc. of Eastern Wayne County

We are a nonprofit, Christian organization in Detroit offering women positive alternatives to abortion, education that promotes effective parenting and healthy lifestyles, and material support to those in need. All our services are free and open to all, although our particular focus is the east side of the Detroit metropolitan area.

Washtenaw Contractors Association

The Washtenaw Contractors Association is a non-profit, 501(c)(6) trade association that serves firms that do commercial building work in the Washtenaw County area. The services we offer include education, marketing, networking, labor relations, and workforce development. Many of our members are very small firms that rely heavily on these services. We also partner for many of our projects with firms and individuals in related fields such as architecture and engineering. One of the largest groups we serve, however, is outside of all these – it is the students and young adults that we introduce to careers in the construction industry through our “JUST BUILD IT!” Construction Career Expo for 8th-12th students from throughout southeast and central Michigan, and our Summer Internship and Scholarship program for undergraduate and graduate university students.
